Bigmarket releases mobile app to challenge Trade Me

Auckland, March 30, 2018 -- Bigmarket, a free marketplace for Kiwi buyers and sellers, today announced the launch of its new app for iOS and Android mobile devices. This addition to Bigmarket’ technology suite shows that the company is following their promise to modernize the New Zealand e-commerce industry.

With more than 500 New Zealand retail partners and over 100,000 listings already available on their website, Bigmarket has captured a significant portion of Trade Me’s market share. The app is a platform for both new and used goods, and allows everyday Kiwis to list items for free. It’s a concept that is new to New Zealand, but that has proven successful in overseas markets for tech giants such as Letgo and Carousell.

“Bigmarket is changing the way Kiwis buy and sell while innovating in ways that the ecommerce industry has never seen before,” said Anna, Bigmarket founder and CEO. “Thousands of Kiwis have already signed up and we are seeing more and more sales through the platform every day.”

Features of the Bigmarket’ mobile app include:

30s listing process. List an item in the marketplace in under 30 seconds.

Geo-tagging. Easily see listings near you, or browse thousands of listings across the whole of New Zealand.

Built-in chat: Get fast answers to questions. Chat is built around buying convenience.

“The age of mobile is upon us.” said Fawcett, “In the last 6 years 60% of Trade Me visitors have used a tablet or mobile device. We realized that catering to mobile users early on was going to make a huge impact towards our success.”

“[we] wish Bigmarket all the best, and welcome the competition”, commented Trade Me in a statement earlier this year.

The Bigmarket app can be downloaded from both the App Store and Google Play. Those wishing to learn more about the company and their services can also visit their website at www.Bigmarket.co.nz.
